Britcom is the suppler of market leading Italian built EFFER cranes in the North if the UK.

CASE STUDY 

We were approached by our mutual partner MAN ERF to work on a joint venture to re-modeal a MAN TGA 6 x 2 Tractor unit to target a niche market

BEFORE:

 MAN Tractor Unit

Proposal: To convert the tractor unit from articulated to rigid drawbar and equip the vehicle with a 31 t/mtr lorry loader crane, whilst maintaining the capacity for the vehicle to accept a 7.9 metre platform.

  • Initial axle loading and crane stability calculations – identified the mid lift axle to be repositioned as a tag axle
  • Chassis extended – to give a new wheel base of 5.5 metres
  • Conversion carried out in full accordance with MAN ERF recommendations – new data file downloaded to configure the new format
  • Chassis subrame fitted the full lenght of the chassis
  • EFFER crane mounted behind the cab – to aid stability, supplementary stabilisers were mounted to the underside of the chassis
  • Crane was tested and certified
  • Subframe shotblasted, primed and gloss painted
