The Engineering team at Britcom have been working with T H Crawforth Caravan Transport, based in Hull for many years, delivering them transportation solutions to enable them to remain at the forefront of their business.
CASE STUDY
Problem: Year on year, caravans are becoming wider, heavier and taller and therefore more difficult to transport
Brief: Following consultation, to design a trailer low enough, light enough, yet maintain manoeuvrability required
Solution: Design, build and supply a tandem axle extendable semi-trailer (from 10.6m to 13.6 m)
- The design of the trailer ensures that when running with either the shortest or longest caravan, the overall length of the truck and trailer can be adjusted to suit
- Either axles can be raised independently, ensuring the greatest of manoeuvrability at all times
- The innovative design of the chassis, and the fitting of 205/65 low profiled wheels and tyres achieves a deck height of only 0.76 metres
- The air suspension can be raised if required, and more importantly, lowered when loading and unloading, giving the best possible approach angle for a long caravan
Customer's Response:
Nothing but praise for the combination, and the trailer has performed to expectations for everything it has done. Since this trailer has been in operation, a new line of caravan has been developed by Willerby Caravans; Britcom have been asked to design a further trailer which can accommmodate the new model. Work is in progress now, and a full case study will be available end of January 2008. Check back regularly for updates.
