Simon Gibson was an apprentice at Britcom until he set up a small haulage business just over 10 years ago.
CASE STUDY
Today, Simon operates 22 specialist powder tankers supplying products for animal feeds.
Simon recently took delivery of a used tanker trailer which required a complete repaint to become a white tank with a blue chassis.
The process this followed was:
- Removal of detachable items – mud-wings, cat-walks etc
- Thorough steam clean
- Shotblasting – rear and outer chassis rails and all alluminium construction chassis
- Abrading – all remaining surfaces requiring painting
- Masking off – all areas not requiring paint such as hydraulic rams, gauges and pipes

Pre-paint prep – final dust residue removed using wipe on / wipe off spirit wipe
- Paint – the tank was painted Volvo white, and the chassis and underside of the tank painted Aircraft blue; both using Spies Hecker

Bake – each stage baked for 40 minutes at 80 degrees centigrade.
- Drying
- All detachable items replaced including application of vinyls for Simon Gibson's own livery
- Quality inspection
- Delivery
And what did Simon think?
"I am absolutely delighted wtih the quality of finish and the customer service provided by Britcom. I was kept informed of progress and the job was completed within the agreed time frame. I will definitely be using Britcom again."
